Part 1 Why Use Blender Rigging?

Blender Character Rigging is a great way of creating truly beautiful and realistic animations. Despite being an open-source program, it’s capable of doing just as much, if not more, than some of the more premium Animation software out there.

So, if you want to create video projects for your audience’s entertainment or edification with animation, then Blender Rigging is definitely something that you should consider. With this tool, you can create the complex animations that you need and then polish it up in a video editor like Wondershare Filmora Video Editor (which is a premium, video-editing tool that you can use to perfect your finished Blender Rigging animations.)

Part 2 The Art of Effective Rigging in Blender [TUTORIAL]

For this next section, we’re going to be introducing a couple of tutorials that you can look into to teach you more about Blender Character Rigging, Blender Facial Rigging, Blender Muscle Rig, and so on.

These topics are each very long-winded on their own though, so we’ve linked appropriate video tutorials that you can learn more and reserved ourselves to a brief description of each technique so that you can determine whether it’s something that interests you (although, of course, our recommendation is that you check each one out so that you can get the full ‘Blender’ experience.)

01Blender Character Rigging

The main thing people usually look at Blender for is, Blender Character Rigging. And, because it was created to emulate professional animation software, Blender has this function down to pat. To give you an idea of what features you can expect: Blender comes with custom bone shapes for easy Blender character rigging, it also comes with envelope skinny, skeleton skinning, and automatic skinning. With these alone, you can be assured that you will be able to create complex animations without much trouble.

02Blender Facial Rigging

Facial Rigging is usually a more complex subject that is avoided by animators without much experience. But, with Blender, facial rigging is possible. The YouTube video should show you the process of going about Blender Facial Rigging from start to finish (from sculpting the character face itself and then making use of Blender Rigging tools for setting up a skeletal structure for your face’s character to become animated.)

03Blender Muscle Rigging

Creating a Blender Muscle Rig is exactly what it sounds like. It is, of course, much more complicated than normal rigging, but it is a good subject to familiarize yourself with anyway, as it will allow you to go to the ‘next stage’ as you say, with your Animations. The video that we’ve attached is from Pierrick Picaut, who has released a series of videos on the subject of Blender Rigging in general and has extensively explained how to create a Blender Human Rig from the general body, the face, the muscles, and so on.

04Blender Rigging

Although a lot of Animation relies on more ‘traditional’ methods of expressing movement, one can still make use of more modern animation practices, like rigs, to set up their animations for movement. It’s an especially good skill to learn if you’re more interested in content-friendly animations (rather than creating a film of your own.)

05Blender Rigging

This next tutorial is an introduction to basic Blender Rigging. It’s a good one to both start and end on, as it was created for beginners specifically, and uses an example that is perhaps easier to understand most. Make sure to give it a shot just in case.

Part 3 Introduction to Rigging in Blender Course

For this next part, we introduce two other resources that you can take advantage of to learn more about Blender Rigging. Whether it be about Blender character rigging, Blender facial rigging, free blender rigs, creating muscle rigs, and so and so forth. These resources have got your back.

01Where to Learn the Course?

The first major course that we think you might be interested in is Mark Masters’ blender rigging course. You can find this course at PluralSight (which is a website that is focused on helping users of software develop their skills). Mark Masters, the instructor for this course, is a professional animator and works as a Animator for the animation studio, Steelhouse Productions. So, you can be sure that there is much that you can learn from him.

02Other Tools to Learn Rigging

As for other places to learn? We suggest the “Blender Fundamentals” course that Blender themselves have posted on YouTube. They have several of these courses (for all of the more recent versions of Blender). So, you can pick out a course that works for you. One of their more recent series is “Blender Fundamentals 2.which currently has videos all on the subject of Blender rigging (including Blender rigging and Blender rigging videos.)

Part 1 Smart Ways to Create Your Own Animated GIF Icons

While there are so many ways to come up with animated GIF icons, I would recommend exploring the following options:

Method 1: Use Adobe Photoshop to Create GIF Icons

If you are looking for a professional solution to create a live GIF icon, then I would recommend using Adobe Photoshop. While the application is not that easy to use, it will be an ideal long-term solution. In nutshell, you can create animated GIF icons by loading assets, duplicating layers, and then merging them in the following way:

Step 1 Load Assets on Photoshop

At first, you can simply launch Adobe Photoshop on your system and go to its File > Scripts to load media assets into your stack.

photoshop load script

This will let you browse and load the media assets to your projects. In case you don’t have a layer created, then you can just go to its File > Layer and create a new layer.

photoshop add layers

You can now rename your layers and can go to its File > Window > Timeline to get a timeline view of the added assets.

photoshop view timeline

Step 2 Work on the Video Timeline to Create a GIF

Great! Once you have got the timeline view on the application, you can click on its dropdown menu and choose to create a frame animation.

photoshop create frame animation

Afterward, you can select the added media and go to its Properties menu on the sidebar. From here, you can choose to create a new layer for each frame and then make frames from each layer.

photoshop make frames

This will create multiple frames on the timeline at the bottom. You can edit each frame on the timeline and can also set up its preferred duration.

photoshop adjust duration

You can also right-click the frames and select how many times your loading icon GIF would be repeated.

photoshop video repeat

Step 3 Preview and Export your GIF from Photoshop

Lastly, you can get a preview of your animated GIF icons and can go to its File > Export and choose to save it for the web in a compatible (GIF) format.

photoshop export gif

Method 2: Make Stunning Animated GIF Icons with Wondershare Filmora

Since Adobe Photoshop can be quite complicated to use, you can consider using Wondershare Filmora to create all kinds of animated GIF icons. It is a user-friendly media editing application that has a wide range of readily available assets and would also let you import files from your system.

Besides that, there are tons of stickers, visual elements, captions, animations, transitions, and so on that would let you create and customize funny GIF icons. Therefore, if you want to create animated GIF icons using Filmora, then you can simply follow these steps:

02 [More Tutorials on Anime Filter That You Should Not Miss](#Part 2)

Part 1 Let’s Figure out What’s Anime Filter First

01What is the Anime Filter on TikTok?

Okay, first off What even is this anime filter everyone is talking about and how can you use it to turn yourself into an animated character? We’ve attached a helpful YouTube Video below from @Kapwing who has a more comprehensive explanation for you.

But, as for the basics? It works just like most filters in that it can be used in both video and picture mode (allowing you to also make your own animated profile picture if you’d like). All you have to do is turn it on, and it’ll turn you into the most fitting anime character of your style immediately

02How to Get the TikTok Anime Filter?

Now to finally get down to business How exactly can you get the anime filter for your TikTok? Well, here’s the trick Despite having earned its popularity on TikTok, the Anime Style filter actually comes from Snapchat So, if you do want to animate yourself like you’ve seen all the other popular TikTok-ers do, you’ll need to record the video (or take the picture) on the Snapchat App first and then upload it to TikTok.

03A step-by-step breakdown of this process has been provided below (pictures included)

Step 1Download the Snapchat App

Alright, to start off with, you’ll need to download the Snapchat app on your smartphone (it’s available for both Android and iOS devices)

Download the Snapchat App

Once you have the Snapchat app downloaded and installed on your device, open it

Open the Snapchat app on your mobile device

Step 3Search for the Anime Style Filter on Snapchat

Once you have the Snapchat app open, click on the search bar at the top of the interface, type ‘anime style’, and search

You might find that there are multiple versions of the filter (like as is shown in the image below), but the one that you need to select is the one titled Anime Style and created by Snapchat (it should appear first, as it does in the example)

Look for the Anime Style filter on Snapchat

Step 4Turn Yourself into an Animated Character

Part 2 More Tutorials on Anime Filter That You Should Not Miss

The Anime Style filter that we introduced in the previous section isn’t the only ‘animated’ filter available, of course It’s the one that caught the attention of a lot of people, thanks, in large part, to the participation of a couple of some of the bigger TikTok-ers on the platform. However, you can always expand your selection a bit by checking out some of the other interesting anime filters in the market:

0112 Anime Filters to Turn Yourself into an Anime Character

Anime Filter #1: Anime Style Realistic

Upload anime filter video on TikTok

In order to fix some of the more glaring issues with the regular Anime Style filter, Snapchat created a second filter, called Anime Style Realistic This one has a distinctively less anime style when it comes to looks. But it does allow for more skin colors, better hair integration, and accessories

Pros

FREE Snapchat lens that you can use at any time.

Works with most skin tones.

Better hair/accessory integration.

Cons

The style is more realistic than anime.

It is not available anywhere else; you’ll need to be on Snapchat to use it.

Not great at capturing motion.

This is a fun filter to use for those looking to spice up their timeline with something a little different (OR for those having a bad day and would like the almost-anonymity the filter can provide).

Anime Filter #2: Cartoon Style

Upload anime filter video on TikTok

Next, we have another Snapchat original lens called Cartoon Style This filter is more reminiscent of the older animated cartoon styles (think Pocahontas, Lilo & Stitch, etc.), but it doesn’t make it any less fun

Pros

FREE Snapchat lens.

Works with all skin tones.

Works with accessories.

Cons

More of a cartoon animated style than anime.

Not available anywhere else, you can only use it with Snapchat.

Not great at capturing motion.

Again, just like the Anime Filter, this is good for slapping on just to have fun or to sneakily erase a couple of blemishes

Anime Filter #3: Anime Filter

Anime Filter from TikTok

Now, although we mentioned that TikTok doesn’t have any anime-style filters, the Chinese version of it (surprisingly) does You can see it being used in the image above, rendering the user into an animated (albeit not classically Japanese animated) character.

Pros

Free Chinese TikTok filter.

Great at capturing motion.

Chinese animated drawing style.

Cons

Only available for the foreign version of the TikTok app.

Not the best with skin tones.

It doesn’t use the classic Japanese-animation style.

This has seen a popularity boost recently, with many TikTok users using it to show a ‘before’ and ‘after’ (like the image shown above), of their dance being animated.

03Anime Filter Has a Sadly Unsurprising Problem

You might have noticed this while we were introducing all the different types of anime-style filters available, but the popular Anime Filter has its shortcomings. Which includes:

PROBLEM 1: Dark Skin Tones

The anime filter’s inability to capture darker skin tones accurately is one of the biggest issues users have with the filter.

PROBLEM 2: Hair Style

Hairstyle options are also very limited. And, as for black hairstyles? Well, the options are pretty much non-existent.

PROBLEM 3: Face Accessories

Do you wear glasses? How about piercings? Well, this won’t translate for you either, unfortunately

Key Takeaways from This Episode

The Anime Filter is a hot, trending topic in platforms like Tiktok, Instagram, and Snapchat It’s also a fun way of engaging with the anime community

There are other, similar face-animation filters available (The Cartoon 3D Styles, especially, were quite popular for a time)

Unsurprisingly, the anime filter does have its problems… And it left a big chunk of the TikTok community pretty flabbergasted — and disappointed. But that didn’t stop them from joining in the fun to provide some empowering commentary

You might have noticed this while we were introducing all the different types of anime-style filters available, but the popular Anime Filter has its shortcomings. Which includes:

PROBLEM 1: Dark Skin Tones

PROBLEM 3: Face Accessories

Do you wear glasses? How about piercings? Well, this won’t translate for you either, unfortunately
