Part 1 The Only Guide You’ll Ever Need to Know About Rigging in Animation
Before anything else, we’ve prepared a bit of an OVERVIEW on rigging in animation. This will cover most of the basic, need-to-know stuff to nudge you in the right direction and help the tips we’ve prepared to settle in more easily.
01What is Rigging in Animation
Rigging in animation is a technique used by animators to—quite literally—‘rig’ up a statistic digital character to act or move.
Even more simply, it’s a way of bringing literal life to your character models by introducing them to motion. The ‘rig’ in this case, is usually made as a sort of one-size-fits-all kind of tool, which you can use in order to create pre-made skeletal animations that replicate motions like walking, running, jumping, etc., and apply onto static characters. You can use animation software, like Maya in order to get this done!
02An Introduction to 2D Animation Rigging
2D animation is a more back-breaking kind of process. It’s what you see in a lot of older animations — where every frame needs to be drawn in order to allow for the illusion of motion in characters. This is how classics, like Mickey Mouse, are usually produced!
03An Introduction to 3D Animation Rigging
3D animation, as you can probably guess, is a more modern animation style. You see it in a lot of big blockbuster animated movies these days! Even Disney has since moved onto this style, whereas they were staunch supporters of 2D animation in previous decades. Now, a lot of their major productions, including titles such as “Tangled”, “Frozen”, and “Moana” are 3D animated.
In any case, this is more like what we described earlier — where skeletal ‘rigs’ are applied to static 3D character models to make them move.
04Key 3D Rigging Terms to Get You Moving
Finally, to make sure that you’re headed in the right direction, here’s a list of some of the more important 3D rigging terms that you’ll need to know:
Joints|Bones: This is pretty straightforward, but the Joints or the Bones, in this case, refers to the pieces of the skeletal rig that is used to create movement.
Driven Keys: Driven keys are there to help rigging artists make the movement appear more natural faster. It consists of two parts, the driver (which controls the animation) and the driven (the parts controlled by the driver).
Blend Shapes: This is an animation tool that riggers used mainly for facial animation (like lip-syncing). Basically, it allows them to blend or morph an existing shape to give it motion.
Inverse Kinematics: This is a method of animation that separates a part from the whole. Like how an animator can create motion in the wrist, for example, as a separate entity from the arm.
Forward Kinematics: Opposite of the previous style, this one is a method that follows a hierarchical progression.
Control Curves: This is a way of manipulating multiple joins in a rig in order to create one flowing movement.
Constraint: A way of limiting the positioning of a model or a joint.
Deformers: A way of enhancing rigs to produce a more organic model.
Skinning: This is the process of adding the 3D mesh to the joints.
Weight Planning: This is the process of planning how the weight of an object will affect its 3D mesh and the movement of its joints.
Facial Rigging: This is the process of setting up facial animation, similar to how you set up skeletal animation, but far more complex.
Part 2 How Do You Animate Rigging?
Now, onto actually talking about how you can start animate rigging. This section will guide you through the process in a way that should hopefully help you while in the process of learning about animation in general.
01How to Rig a Simple Character
This has been broken down into four distinct stages to make things as simple as possible! It won’t be discussing the tools you use, as there are plenty of tools you can use for animation, just the general process:
Step 1: Design Your Character
Before you even think about animation, you should start with designing your character (or characters.) This will give you a good basis on what kind of animation rigging you’ll need to work on for that character.
For example, for a humanoid character, a general skeletal rigging might be okay. However, for a creature or monster, their joints might be in different areas or they might even have additional joints regular human rigs don’t have!
So, start with a foundation that you can work from to make things easier on yourself.
Step 2: Start With Rigging Points!
When you have your character design ready, it’s time to start rigging joints! It’s best to start with the joints and leave the more finicky parts later. Basically, it’s always easier to start with the parts that can create big movements first!
Working on things layer by layer should help make things easier for you as well.
Step 3: Connect The Layers!
It’s time to put everything together to create smooth movement! Depending on what tool you’re using, this is usually just as easy as dragging things into place.
Step 4: Timing Your Animation
With the rig in place, the next thing you have to worry about is frame timing. Timing is important for ensuring that there is no break in character motions
02Beginners Tutorial on Shape Rigging
This one is a little more complicated, and should be improved more by trial and error, but here are a couple of tips that you can follow along with while exploring blend shapes in animation:
Master your sculpting tools first and foremost! The more familiar you are with the shapes that your tools can create, the better!
Symmetrical modeling is one way of making the process go a lot faster! Take advantage of this option to highlight components that you need to be affected in the same way and at the same time.
If symmetrical modeling is not working for you, independent modeling is a great way of making things appear more organic.
03How Auto Rig Mapping Works
Auto-rigging is the use of pre-made rigs in order to simplify the process. The tool automatically maps the areas where the characters and the rig are given the same symbol names and snaps them together to create joints for a motion to be applied.
04How Visual Rig Mapping Works
Visual mapping is a lot more complicated the auto-rig mapping, so it’s not something you want to jump into immediately. However, it is a must for animation riggers that work with unique character models. The process usually goes as follows:
Manually make connections starting with the joints.
Applying the skeleton to the rig to complete bones and connections.
Motion can then be added to the timeline.
05Finalizing Your Animated Rig
To finish us off, let’s talk about how you go about publishing your finished product! Of course, even after you have your complex rig completed, there are still other matters to think about in terms of making sure that the video is of quality!
Key Takeaways from This Episode
● Start off on the right footing by learning the basics of animation! These days, there are more options than ever, with the modern 3D animation rigging style now just as popular as the more classic 2D animation style.
● The best way to learn animation rigging is to practice! Structured guides can help you get to the point of almost mastery, but it’s not until you start playing with the tools of your craft that you can truly learn how to create beautiful animations!
● Some of the more complex functions of rigging require a lot of patience, so make sure that you always go into your projects with a level-head. And, just to be sure, invest in tools that will help rather than hinder your progress! There are many advanced software out there that can help you improve more easily.

15 Iconic Cartoon Characters of All Time
14 Iconic Cartoon Characters of All Time
An easy yet powerful editor
Numerous effects to choose from
Detailed tutorials are provided by the official channel
The best part about cartoons is that there’s something for everyone. There are iconic cartoon characters that are humorous, cute, and cool.
Since Paste first published this list a decade ago, a lot has changed in the world of cartoons. New episodes of The Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park, and SpongeBob Squarepants get released regularly, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Traditional cable networks have spawned new and exciting animated characters and settings while streaming services have enabled even more creators to produce the animated shows they want.
We thought to update our list of the 12 most iconic cartoon characters of all time, considering the cultural influence, relatability, and significance these animated humans, animals, vegetables, and other creatures had within the sphere of animation in 2020. Many of these characters have gone beyond their cartoon origins into other media. Still, for this list, we’ll only look at them as they appear in cartoons, whether they’re from the program itself or related comics and books.
01Fred Flintstone
Created: 1960
Creators: William Hanna, Joseph Barbera
Voices: Jeff Bergman and Alan Reed, as well as a variety of others
Fred, the patriarch of his modern-day stone-age clan, was an outspoken supporter of cartoons. The original series was one of the most contentious shows on television in the 1960s, despite its benign appearance (the Flintstones are better recognized for their cereal and vitamin advertising).
Fred Flintstone, the iconic cartoon character, is not the best-drawn cartoon character ever. He is pleasant and faithful to his wife, Wilma, despite not being a terrific boxer. The character carries a lump of granite on his shoulders and shows no fear of jeopardizing his marriage and children. He’s still a hominid, a caveman with extraordinary strength and agility.
02Mickey Mouse
Created: 1928

Mickey Mouse, the Disney mascot, is easy to overlook. Without the joys of an adventurous, passionate mouse, there might not be a Disney kingdom. In 2024, nearly a century after Disney’s legendary Disney short “Steamboat Willie,” the public domain will glimpse the mouse.
Walt Disney initially produced the most iconic cartoon character Mickey Mouse in 1928. His unique red shorts and white gloves have helped him become one of the most well-known fictional characters in the world. He usually wears a white glove and a white cap, and his enormous, yellow shoes are a common sight. Mickey also sports a pair of white gloves and his white gloves and shorts. He also wears a giant red bow and his clothes, which makes him a versatile character.
03SpongeBob Squarepants
Created: 1999
Creator: Stephen Hillenburg
Voice by Tom Kenny
Although Sponge’s nautical nonsense was probably not to most parents’ liking, Tom Kenny’s renowned chuckle has become ingrained in viewers’ brains all across the world after two decades of programming.
For almost 30 years, the SpongeBob Squarepants series has been a hit. It’s a cartoon about Patrick, a yellow sea sponge which is enthusiastic about life. He works as a chef at the Krusty Krab and lives in a pineapple house. Patrick, who is also his best friend, is his best friend.
The characters are likable and harmless in general, while some of the songs in the show deal with contentious topics, many based on actual events. The show has been chastised for portraying kids as unpleasant, obnoxious, and even defiant and using many caustic languages. While the show is often entertaining, its messages can be contentious.
SpongeBob is a young adult who lives independently and works full-time despite his immaturity.
04Tom and Jerry
Created: 1941
Creators: William Hanna, Joseph Barbera
Voices: William Hanna and various other voices
The series, founded by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera in 1940, is perhaps most known for Metro-Goldwyn-161 Mayer’s theatrical short films.
Tom the cat and Jerry the mouse, the iconic cartoon characters star in the original shorts. This is a desperate attempt to make the other person unhappy, but it rarely works.
Tom and Jerry were minor characters in the early years of the show. There were a few distinctions between them and the human characters in the film. The first one focused more on the mouse than the human cast, but the second was more centered on the human.
05Homer Simpson
Created: 1987
Creator: Matt Groening
Voice: Dan Castellaneta
The Simpsons’ first two seasons centered on Bart. But it was genuinely stunning as the show became more Homer-centric. He is the average man at his most sluggish, hungry, dumb, intoxicated, and idiotic. Thanks to his tremendous heart, he is still the hero, hidden beneath all the doughnuts.
Homer is a talented pianist in addition to expressing his love for Marge. He can play the guitar and keyboard, and his barbershop music has garnered him a Grammy. His most remarkable musical gift is his powerful operatic voice, which he uses in his band, Babysitter Bandit. His singing voice has won him fans worldwide, and he has played in hundreds of bands.
06Charlie Brown and Snoopy (Peanuts)
Created: 1950
Creator: Charles M. Schulz
Voice: Bill Melendez, Peter Robbins and other.
Charlie Brown and Snoopy came to life through a few TV specials and later series, even though not all of the characters made it to television. Snoopy’s Red Baron fantasies and friendship with Woodstock were popular with children. They were also fans of Lucy’s crush. Charlie was well-liked by the older crowd. Charlie Brown, the hapless Charlie Brown, elicits as much sympathy as any animated character. We pull for him even though we know it will all be for naught.
Charlie Brown and Snoopy are part of the Peanuts Gang, an iconic group of cartoon characters. You’ve undoubtedly seen these two cartoon heroes previously if you haven’t heard of them. These two are from the well-known Peanuts cartoon series. They are famous children’s characters who are appreciated by many.
07Bugs Bunny (Looney Tunes)
Created: 1940
Creators: Ben Hardaway, Tex Avery
Voices: Mel Blanc, Jeff Bergman and other voices
The most fabulous cat cartoon in history is a rabbit, alternatively, a hare. This little taxonomic distinction went unmentioned in numerous shenanigans. Regardless of whether the rabbit was hunting with Elmer Fudd’s shotgun, Yosemite Samantha’s pistols, or Marvin Martian’s ACME Disintegration Gun, he maintained an enviable insouciance. The iconic visage of Warner Bros. had one flaw: terrible direction sense, particularly while digging across New Mexico.
Bugs Bunny is a late-thirties animated cartoon character created by Leon Schlesinger Productions. Mel Blanc provided his voice for him, and he has acted in several short films and television series. Many children were enthralled by the show, while the characters and stories fascinated others.
08Scooby-Doo and Shaggy Rogers
Created: 1969
Creators: Joe Ruby and Ken Spears
Voices: Don Messick, Casey Kasem and a variety of others
Scooby-Doo and Shaggy’s narrative has been a popular one for a long time. They have similar personalities and chemistry, as well as the same interests. They are close friends and have a passion for numerous types of food. They are mostly eating and lounging around, screaming in panic when presented with something frightening. They are the easiest to fall in love with. Despite all Scooby-countless Doo’s incarnations, this man-dog pair remains timeless.
Norville “Shaggy” Rogers is a fictitious character in the Scooby-Doo series. He is well known as the cowardly slacker with whom Scooby-Doo is constantly conversing. Scooby-Doo and Shaggy are the two primary characters in Mystery Incorporated. They both came from the same puppy farm.
09Winnie the Pooh
Created: 1926
Creators: A. A. Milne, E. H. Shepard
Voice: Sterling Holloway. Hal Smith. Jim Cummings
The Disney adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh were as famous as his books. Winnie-the-Pooh was famous for his lovely temperament and generous heart who also admitted to have a sweet tooth.
Winnie-the-Pooh, an anthropomorphic teddy bear, is one of the most well-known children’s books. A. Milne wrote the book, and E. H. Shepard illustrated it. Winnie’s friendship with Eeyore, Christopher Robin, Kanga, Rabbit, Piglet, Roo, Owl, and Tigger is depicted in the story.
10Pinky & the Brain
Created: 1995
Creator: Tom Ruegger
Voices: Rob Paulsen, Maurice LaMarche
While many iconic cartoon characters have desired to be rulers of the world, none could ever envision being a benign tyrant like The Brain. Pinky, The Brain’s not-so-reliable companion, may give him headaches, but his zeal is contagious, and his loyalty makes him easy to love.
11Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup (The Powerpuff Girls)
Created: 1998
Creator: Craig McCracken
Voices: Cathay Cavadini, Tara Strong, E. G. Daily, various others
The Powerpuff Girls, the iconic female cartoon characters and the ideal vanguard of “you can be pretty and yet kick-ass,” emerged on the 90s cartoon landscape eager to inspire and amuse a generation. The eventual lesson was that working together is the most robust play, regardless of who you identified with the most.
12Finn the Human and Jake the Dog (Adventure Time)
Created: 2010
Creator: Pendleton Ward
Voices: Jeremy Shada, John DiMaggio
This dynamic team, our two brave protagonists from the Land of Ooo, whose humor, sadness, loyalty, and bravery catapulted this fantastic, strange, emotionally deep series to must-see status for viewers of all ages, are impossible to ignore.
13BoJack Horseman
Created: 2014
Creator: Raphael Bob-Waksberg
Voice: Will Arnett
The redemption arc of Will Arnett’s anthropomorphized, misanthropic horse is one of the most nuanced and profoundly felt of any TV character. Even when he didn’t love himself, we could love him because he was damaged and created damage wherever he went. Never has a cartoon covered such complex and challenging subjects with such finesse. It was an added advantage that it was continuously funny, and at the center of it all was a washed-up ‘90s sitcom actor dealing in the aftermath of his success.
14Zuko (Avatar: The Last Airbender)
Created: 2005
Creators: Michael Dante DiMartino, Bryan Konietzko
Voice: Dante Basco
That’s right: Zuko, not Aang! Zuko does not appear to be the same character in the first and end episodes. The former is a haughty prince with a ponytail who can’t seem to keep his fury and angst in check. The latter is a more emotionally intelligent figure, embracing his uncle and pleading for forgiveness with tears in his eyes. However, when viewed in order, the transition between the two is seamless. Zuko’s narrative is tragic yet uplifting, shaped by both hate and love, making him one of the best characters in animation, if not all of television.15.Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)
15Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Created: 1984
Creators: Kevin Eastman, Peter Laird
Voices: Cam Clarke, Barry Gordon, Rob Paulsen, Townsend Coleman, various others
For this list, we’ll concentrate on the original team, these radical pizza-eating ninja-style fighters with a rat for a sensei, yet tastefully named after some of history’s finest painters who became legendary for 90s youth. It’s impossible to choose the “best” iconic cartoon character in this soap because it depends on personal preference. They are, nonetheless, indispensable to pop culture history in all of their manifestations (even as a peak of “the show is for the toy”).
● Ending Thoughts →
● Cartoons give valuable lessons about life. People of all ages can benefit from these life lessons. While comics typically target children, this does not rule out the possibility that adults will like them. There is a slew of animated sitcoms aimed squarely at adults! This means that individuals of all ages can enjoy and love cartoons.
● Thus, we listed the most iconic cartoon characters that made your childhood more exciting. So, enjoy your choice of iconic cartoon characters and have fun.

Creators: Walt Disney, Ub Iwerks
Voices: Walt Disney, BretIwan, and other voices
They don’t always get along, but they’re usually delighted with each other and often laugh at their misfortunes. Each short features the two attempting to catch the other.
Blender is a FREE, open-source 3D Animation program that is very popular for beginner animators. It’s a good way of starting if you’re not yet sure about how far you want to go into animation as it won’t demand any immediate monetary commitment.
Now, as for its features, today, we’ll be focusing on Blender Rigging features.
In this article
01 [Why Use Blender Rigging?](#Part 1)
02 [The Art of Effective Rigging in Blender [TUTORIAL]](#Part 2)
03 [Introduction to Rigging in Blender Course](#Part 3)
Part 1 Why Use Blender Rigging?
Blender Character Rigging is a great way of creating truly beautiful and realistic animations. Despite being an open-source program, it’s capable of doing just as much, if not more, than some of the more premium Animation software out there.
So, if you want to create video projects for your audience’s entertainment or edification with animation, then Blender Rigging is definitely something that you should consider. With this tool, you can create the complex animations that you need and then polish it up in a video editor like Wondershare Filmora Video Editor (which is a premium, video-editing tool that you can use to perfect your finished Blender Rigging animations.)
Part 2 The Art of Effective Rigging in Blender [TUTORIAL]
For this next section, we’re going to be introducing a couple of tutorials that you can look into to teach you more about Blender Character Rigging, Blender Facial Rigging, Blender Muscle Rig, and so on.
These topics are each very long-winded on their own though, so we’ve linked appropriate video tutorials that you can learn more and reserved ourselves to a brief description of each technique so that you can determine whether it’s something that interests you (although, of course, our recommendation is that you check each one out so that you can get the full ‘Blender’ experience.)
01Blender Character Rigging
The main thing people usually look at Blender for is, Blender Character Rigging. And, because it was created to emulate professional animation software, Blender has this function down to pat. To give you an idea of what features you can expect: Blender comes with custom bone shapes for easy Blender character rigging, it also comes with envelope skinny, skeleton skinning, and automatic skinning. With these alone, you can be assured that you will be able to create complex animations without much trouble.
02Blender Facial Rigging
Facial Rigging is usually a more complex subject that is avoided by animators without much experience. But, with Blender, facial rigging is possible. The YouTube video should show you the process of going about Blender Facial Rigging from start to finish (from sculpting the character face itself and then making use of Blender Rigging tools for setting up a skeletal structure for your face’s character to become animated.)
03Blender Muscle Rigging
Creating a Blender Muscle Rig is exactly what it sounds like. It is, of course, much more complicated than normal rigging, but it is a good subject to familiarize yourself with anyway, as it will allow you to go to the ‘next stage’ as you say, with your Animations. The video that we’ve attached is from Pierrick Picaut, who has released a series of videos on the subject of Blender Rigging in general and has extensively explained how to create a Blender Human Rig from the general body, the face, the muscles, and so on.
04Blender Rigging
Although a lot of Animation relies on more ‘traditional’ methods of expressing movement, one can still make use of more modern animation practices, like rigs, to set up their animations for movement. It’s an especially good skill to learn if you’re more interested in content-friendly animations (rather than creating a film of your own.)
05Blender Rigging
This next tutorial is an introduction to basic Blender Rigging. It’s a good one to both start and end on, as it was created for beginners specifically, and uses an example that is perhaps easier to understand most. Make sure to give it a shot just in case.
Part 3 Introduction to Rigging in Blender Course
For this next part, we introduce two other resources that you can take advantage of to learn more about Blender Rigging. Whether it be about Blender character rigging, Blender facial rigging, free blender rigs, creating muscle rigs, and so and so forth. These resources have got your back.
01Where to Learn the Course?
The first major course that we think you might be interested in is Mark Masters’ blender rigging course. You can find this course at PluralSight (which is a website that is focused on helping users of software develop their skills). Mark Masters, the instructor for this course, is a professional animator and works as a Animator for the animation studio, Steelhouse Productions. So, you can be sure that there is much that you can learn from him.
02Other Tools to Learn Rigging
As for other places to learn? We suggest the “Blender Fundamentals” course that Blender themselves have posted on YouTube. They have several of these courses (for all of the more recent versions of Blender). So, you can pick out a course that works for you. One of their more recent series is “Blender Fundamentals 2.which currently has videos all on the subject of Blender rigging (including Blender rigging and Blender rigging videos.)
● Key Takeaways from This Episode →
● If you’re interested in trying out blender rigging yourself, you’ll probably want to study the subject a little before beginning.
● Blender Rigging is quite a complex subject for beginners but having something to start with should help you on your way.
● For that, we recommend checking out the videos that we mentioned in section two of this article, where we recommend some popular tutorials regarding some of the more common Blender Rigging subjects.
● If you’re looking for something more comprehensive or put together though. A course might be more up to your taste. For that, we recommend either Mark Master’s introduction to rigging and animation over at PluralSight or Blender’s own “Blender Fundamental” series on YouTube (which should introduce all the functions you’ll need to know.)

Part 1 How to Draw Cartoon Characters Step by Step
Note that in the world we live in, Professionals were once students, and experts were once beginners. This means that everyone has a starting point, and they all have one thing in common: “learning.” Whether you are aspiring to become an English teacher, an astrophysicist, an artist, or a physician’s assistant, you must first learn the ins and outs of the field.
Those aspiring to become animators and cartoonists must first learn the basics of cartoon character drawing and practice some easy, simple cartoon drawing before cranking out the Mickey-Mouses of the entertainment world. However, we will cover the basic principles of easy cartoon drawing for beginners step by step to get your learning process started. Here is how to draw a Micky-Mouse perfectly:
Step 1:
● Use a pencil to begin your drawing.
● First, create a circle for the head and a curved line on the left side.
● Draw a horizontal line at the center.
Step 2: Next, draw an oval shape for the mouth and a “U” shape added to the bottom, and then you can add another parallel “U” shape and connect it with the oval.
Step 3: Draw the eye using two upside-down “U” shapes, and then you add his large ear on the right and a small one at the top of the head.
Step 4: You can draw a bean shape and another smaller one inside for the body.
Step 5: Add oval shapes for his feet to draw his legs and draw his tail on the right side just above the leg.
Step 6: Draw two elongated shapes for his arms, a small oval for the hand and a basic shape of his fingers.
Step 7: Draw the cheese and add a few small circles inside.
Step 8: Also include the facial features by drawing the inside of the nose, eyebrows, eyes, and whiskers.
Step 9:
● Draw his fingers and hair between his ears.
● Trace your pencil lines with a sharpie.
● Erase the pencil afterward.
Step 10: Finally, you can color your drawing and upload it to your website.
Part 1 Cartoon Easy Drawing with Colour Step by Step
Applying color to a drawing is very important to beautify your drawing and make it look stunning and attractive. Here is how to cartoon easy drawing a flower using a colored pencil:
Step 1: Using a color photocopy of a reference photo, crop and rearrange elements of the poppy composition. With light pressure and HB pencil, draw a composition onto a four-ply, 100% cotton museum board frequently found among framing supplies.
Step 2: With very light pressure, apply the first colored pencil layer and add more emphasis where the values will be deeper. While doing this, note that the pencil application will still appear granular, and the texture of the museum board is still visible.
Step 3: Create the veins in the leaves and the fuzzy texture of the stem and pod, and also, as the individual strands of stamens, put down a sheet of translucent drafting paper. Use heavy tracing paper with a very sharp 7H graphite pencil and apply heavy pressure in drawing the lines for stamens, fuzz, and veins on the drafting paper and impress them into the surface of the museum board. Then, with a contrasting layer of darker color, these features dramatically show up on the stem, leaves, center of the flower, pod, and center of the flower. Then add deeper values of rose in the shadowed areas of the flower petals.
Step 4: To make them appear less granular and intensify the colors, start by blending with a clear, alcohol-based blending marker. The solvent, wax, or vegetable oil then dissolves the binder in the colored pencil layer and fluidly releases the pigment. This will also help to “fill in” the dots of the tooth of the paper and make the color appear denser.
Step 5: Continue to intensify the color by using a non-pigmented blending pencil over a previous layer and repeat a layer or two of color, much like a “color sandwich.” Repeat this “ burnishing “ process for subsequent layerings of color, like a double-decker or triple-decker sandwich.
Also, make sure the rich, dark negative space is carried out the same way, layering colors and burnishing, then repeating the colors for deep, rich saturation.
Render the deep, smeary flecks of pollen by heavily applying “freckles” of burgundy, then slightly smudge them with the tip of a blending marker. Lastly, scratch a few of the tiny wisps of fuzz on the pod and stem carefully into the board via a sharp X-acto knife for a striking contrast of light against the deep background.
Part 2 Cartoon Easy Sketch Drawing Step by Step
This is the initial stage of the drawing process. It requires you to create an outline of the concept you want to draw before adding color. However, it is also referred to as a technique in shading. For example, if you’re going to sketch a cherry fruit, there are a few things to note here.
Try not to look at the cherry as a whole but look at its shapes and name them. This way, you are looking at the parts to the whole and not the entire piece.
Step 1: Draw two overlapping circles and draw two curved lines from each of the circles.
Step 2: Make a small rectangle at the top to join the two stems and draw a second set of curved lines.
Step 3: Draw thick lines inside the rectangle for the bumps and darken the lines and use your finger to smudge them a bit for the shaded effect.
Step 4: Draw a curved line from the stem on the right to the circle’s edge to create the bump.
Step 5: Holding your pencil at an angle, make light strokes going across the front of both cherries. Take note of the places where there is no light. This is where the light source is hitting the cherry the most.
Step 6: To darken, a shade over those places again, keep layering the shading technique until you get the effect you see on the cherries.
Step 7: Use the same technique to shade under the cherries, but use your finger to smudge it to smoother the shadow.
